In loving memory of Joan Merriman of Nettleton, Mississippi, born in Tupelo, Mississippi, who departed this world on April 30, 2024 at the age of 80. She was predeceased by : her parents, J. W. Cates and Maude Herring Cates; her son Brian McCord; her brother Charles Wayne Parker; and her husband John Allen Merriman of Merriman's Grocery.

She is survived by : her daughters, Teresa "Tece" Nicholson (Darel) of Tupelo and Belinda Owens (Greg) of Nettleton; her grandchildren, Hunter Richardson (Laura Beth), Devan Richardson (Rebecca), Anna Parker (Zack), Olivia Foster, Payton McCord (Kaley) and John Luke McCord (Abi); and her brother Lynn Parker. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
