He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thomas Gates and Lois Irene Simmons Gates; and his siblings, Bobby June Ross, Erma Graham, James H. Gates and Larry Gates.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Parker Gates; and his children, Stacy Sanford and Don N. Gates (Tiffany).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the United Funeral Service, Inc. (700 MS-15, New Albany, MS 38652). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
