She was predeceased by: her husband John Luther Evans, Sr.; her son Billy Edward Evans; her parents, Leonard Leon Whitehead and Mildred Marie Beech Whitehead; and her siblings, Jimmy Whitehead, Elvie Joann Smith, Lena Faye Porter, Patricia Ann Harvey, Allen Lee Whitehead and Dianne Brewer.
She is survived by: her children, Lisa Merrell (Raymond) of Newton, Tonya Logan (Corey) of Union and John L. Evans, Jr. (Nikki) of Richlands, NC; her former husband James L. McMullan of Lake; and her sister Alice Hancock of Jackson. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church (2548 Cedar Grove Rd, Newton, MS 39345). A funeral service was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
