He was predeceased by: his parents, John T. Shuman and Ruby M. Townsend; his siblings, John "Buddy", William "Bill" Shuman and Mary Helen Welch; and his son-in-law Donald Schaefer.
He is survived by: his wife Barbel Shuman; his daughters, Brenda Schaefer, Debra J. Miller (Butch) and Angelica Martinez (Dave); and his grandchildren, Nicole Martz (Curtis), Steven Schaefer, Nickolas Miller and Angelina "Nina" Martinez.
