He was predeceased by : his parents, James A. McMurtray and Myrtle Dora McMurtray; his former life partner Jane Elizabeth Ward McMurtray; and his siblings, James O. McMurtray, Marie McMurtray Sikora, Nell McMurtray Bauman, Ben McMurtray, Sally McMurtray D'Andrea, Charlotte McMurtray Byrd and Katherine McMurtray Thacker.

He is survived by : his spouse Billie Elayne Knox McMurtray; his daughters, Carol McMurtray Gollott (Sam), Angie McMurtray Hurring (Mike) and Libby McMurtray Jurczak (David); his stepchildren, Shannon Robertson Phipps (Steve) and Jake Robertson (Shannon); his grandchildren, Chase Mohler, Morgan Gollott McMillan (Craig), Brooke Hurring Desporte (Hunter), Elizabeth Hurring, Kade Hurring, Alyssa Jurczak, Will Jurczak, Dawson Andrews, Brett Robertson, Savannah Phipps and Sean Austin Phipps; his great grandchildren, Zealand Shelton-Hurring and Saint Desporte; and his sister Annie Leigh McMurtray Catchot of Ocean Springs.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the OS Elks Lodge Scholarship Fund or the Elks Annual Junior Fishing Rodeo for Children.
