He was predeceased by : his parents, Orville Hayes and Vera Hayes (Anderson); his wife Janice Hayes (Thompson); and his siblings, Bill Hayes, Harold Hayes, Leroy Hayes and Margaret Hayes.

He is survived by : his children, Mark Hayes (Amy) and Dee Thomas (Donald); his grandchildren, Savannah Thomas and Matthew Hayes; and his siblings, Joyce Vote (Norm), Janice Grenko (Edward), Linda Paris (Wayne), Laura Ocker (Edward), Paul Hayes and Richard Hayes.
