He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Taylor and Eleanor Taylor; and his siblings, Charles, Clifford, Lawrence, Janice, Jeanette and Elizabeth Taylor.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah Faye Taylor; his sons, Melvin II and Brandon; his grandchildren, Joshua and Maya; his goddaughter Myria Stanley; and his siblings, June Stanley-Artley, Earnest, Deborah Ann and Richard Taylor. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
