He was predeceased by : his parents, James Warren Gainey Jr. and Nellene Gainey of Ellisville. He is survived by : his wife Claudia Gainey; his children, Robert Gainey (Rebecca) and Nancy Gainey; his sister Ann Thompson (Pat); his grandchildren, Lee Ramsey (Hannah), Warren Ramsey, Katelinn Anderson (Cameron) and Jesse Gainey (Grace); his great grandchildren, Kennedi Shotls and Deborah Anderson; and his grandson Brett Herrington (Courtney).

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 15th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mt. Olive Methodist Church (8 Arthur Tucker Rd, Ovett, MS 39464). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 15th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
