He was predeceased by: his parents, Savie Young Jarrett and Galveston Jarrett; his grandparents, Gertrude and Elihue Young; his stepfather Luther Jones; his brother Hue Rane Jarrett of Chicago, IL; his sons, John Jarrett, Jr. of Durham and Kennard Jarrett of Dallas, Texas; his grandson Willie Jackson; and his stepson James Bibbs, Jr. of Jackson, MS..
He is survived by: his wife Mary Bibbs Jarrett; his children, Karen Jackson of Dallas, Texas, Rayna Pratt (Michael Pratt, Sr) of Chicago, Illinois, Leander Davis (Regina Davis) of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Jacqulyn Hill of Chicago, Illinois, Tonya Jarrett of Selmer and Nedra Jones (Christopher Jones) of Marietta, Georgia; his daughters-in-law, Chanda Jarrett of Durham and Lucilla Jarrett of Dallas, Texas; and his sisters, Gertrude Jarrett Stewart (Andrew Stewart) of Miami, Florida and Valerie Jarrett Adams of Miami, Florida. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members; and countless friends.
He also served through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and supported the Food Pantry Ministry at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, helping provide resources and encouragement to individuals and families in need.
