It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leona Jane Carwyle of Oxford, Mississippi, born in Fort Monroe, Virginia, who passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Riley Smith, Sr.; her brother Richard Smith; and her husbands, John Wayne Carwyle and William Gates. She is survived by: her children, Jennifer Arbuckle (Tony) of Oxford, David Carwyle (Jill) of Oxford, Jeremy "Tiger" Carwyle (Sandra) of Thaxton and James Carwyle (Amy) of Pontotoc, MS; her mother Ruth Smith of Oxford; her grandchildren, Shannon Priest (Ty) of Oxford, Jordan Dill (Collin) of Oxford, Riley Arbuckle of Oxford, David Huckaby (Tori) of Oxford, Daniel Huckaby (Kelly) of Oxford, Justin Killough of Cincinnati, OH, William Carwyle (Krissa) of Pontotoc and JonVictor Arbuckle of Oxford; her great grandchildren, Eli Huckaby, Rhett Killough, Naomi Dill, Olivia Huckaby, Connor Priest and Isabelle Dill; and her siblings, Patricia Mayfield (Jim) of Etta, MS, Sylvia Zebrowski of Oxford and Riley Smith, Jr. (Wara) of Oxford. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
