He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Darnell and Vera Darnell; his daughter Marcia Lynn Darnell; his sisters, Maxine Taylor and Helen Smart; his grandson Grayson Darnell; and his son-in-law Terry Klepzig.
He is survived by: his wife Vickie Stone Darnell; his children, Angela Klepzig of Oxford and Chris Darnell (Tracy) of Saltillo; his grandchildren, Wes Klepzig (Lilly) of Canton, Mason Darnell (Molly Jenkins) of Oxford and Maddie Klepzig (Ryan Holland) of Lawrence, KS; his brothers, Lucius "Buddy" Darnell of Independence, MS and James Ray Darnell of Holly Springs, MS; and his stepgrandchildren, Ashley Ratliff, Tiffany Myhand and Cody Ratliff (Catherine).
