It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Jane Alexander (Oxford, Mississippi), born in Batesville, Mississippi, who passed away on November 26, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leona Baker-Fletcher and Revance Fletcher; and her son Harold D. Hughes. She is survived by: her husband Augustus Alexander; her sisters, Irene, Johnnie Mae, Anna Mae and Delois; her sons, Hubert D. Hughes, Torry (Tanika) and Tony Hughes; her grandchild Tomeka Hughes; her stepson Augustus Alexander; and her siblings, Frances Howell and Reese Fletcher. She is also survived by 19 beautiful grandchildren; 11 wonderful Great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the L. Hodges Funeral Service (721 Damascus Rd, Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the New Bethlehem MB Batesville (1450 Bethlehem Road, Batesville, MS 38601). A burial will be held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at the same location.
