She was predeceased by: her parents, Byron Harpole and Jewel Parker Harpole; her husband Melvin Smith; her daughter Shelia Smith; and her siblings, Robert, J. B. Harpole and Juanita Langford.
She is survived by: her daughters, Melinda Mann (Jay) of Vardaman, Teresa Harris (Bill) of Seattle, Washington, Brenda Grimes (Geoff) of Tupelo and Sandra Mooneyham (Jimmy) of Vardaman; her grandchildren, Kevin Hester, Jr., Carmen Montroy (J. C.), Caleb Hester, Kim Jones (Jonathan), Crystal Tutor (Sam), Kyle Hester, Cade Jones, Christopher Hester and Trey Grimes (Ellie); and her close friend Rose Diamond (Charles) of Calhoun City. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
