It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hugh David McDonald (Philadelphia, Mississippi), who passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the vast expanse of eternity, Hugh David shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Hugh David farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Kenneth and Audrey Mae McDonald; and his granddaughter Jaelyn McDonald. He is survived by: his wife Debbie McDonald; his son John McDonald (Amy) of Carthage, MS; his brother Kenneth Ray McDonald (Diane) of SoSo, MS; and his grandchildren, Waverly McDonald, Carsyn McDonald and Rowan McDonald. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the McClain-Hays Funeral Home (1002 E Main St, Philadelphia, MS 39350). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Carolina Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Carolina Presbyterian Church or the Carolina Cemetery fund.
