She was predeceased by: her parents, Rudolph Mitchell (Doc) and Mary Elizabeth Thigpen Mitchell; her husband Terence Smith; and her siblings, Rudolph Mitchell, Jr., Don Mitchell, Norvell Mitchell, Woodrow Mitchell, Mike Mitchell, Bob Mitchell, Evelyn Sones, Linda Stewart, Hazel Grant, Pauline Thompson and Jeannie Kellar.
She is survived by: her daughters, Syliva Truitt (Kevin), Sandra Burke and Jill Smith; her grandchildren, Michael Truitt, Sarah Smith and Loren Burke-Johnsen; her sister Verna Mae Sheppard; and her sister-in-law Jo Mitchell. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Thigpen Cemetery (111 Williamsburg Rd, Picayune, MS 39466).
