He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Carter and Virginia Smith Carter; his wife Shirley Asher Carter; his son Brian Keith Carter; and his siblings, Charles Carter, Clinton Carter (Mildred) and Camellia Haddox.

He is survived by: his daughter Cynthia Dianne Carter; his grandchildren, Michael England (Amanda), Mandi Lee, Tiffany Cheramie (Eugene), Angela England, Brian "Bubba" Carter (Cassandra) and Braxten Carter; his great grandchildren, Hunter of Cloey, CJ, Aiden, Layla, Emily and Warren; his brother Calvin Carter; and his sister-in-law Norma Carter.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (1000 Goodyear Blvd, Picayune, MS 39466). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, January 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 22nd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the New Palestine Cemetery (2336 Palestine Rd, Picayune, MS 39466).
