She was predeceased by : her parents, Reverend James R. Sparrow and Susie Sparrow; her husband Leon G. Gaither, Sr. of Beltsville, MD; and her brothers, James, Jr., Robert Lee, Joseph and John B. Sparrow.
She is survived by : her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Sparrow, Susie Butler and Cora S. VanHook; her children, Gale G. Velasquez (Juan) of Picayune, MS., Leon Jr. Gaither (Margarita) of Orlando, FL., Evelyn G. Lynch (Anthony, Sr) of Bowie, MD. and Vera A. Paylor (Vaughn) of Westminster, MD.; her grandchildren, Anthony, Jr., Tyler Lynch, Vincent (Amy), Victor, Vance, Veronica, Vanessa Paylor, Leonela and Leonardo Gaither; her great grandchildren, Kirby and Milo Paylor; her siblings, Ruby S. Wells (Altha S. Dowe) and Reverend Cleveland Sparrow, Sr. of Silver Spring, MD.; her sisters-in-law, Marva Gaither of Thurmont, MD., Marvelean Sparrow of Roanoke, VA. and Joyce Sparrow of Silver Spring, MD.; her close friends, Regina and Melvin Redmond; and also, Sophia, Mylan and Braelyn. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and her church family.
While in Picayune, she attended Hartzell Mt. Zion UMC, and she rarely missed a Sunday service, until Covid 19, and social distancing became the new normal.
