He is survived by : his wife Myra Schaare Mathis; his stepchildren, Tasha Carter, Stephen Carter and Nathan Carter; his siblings, Joan Dunlap, Olivia Ann Rush (John) and Eddie Joe Mathis; his grandchildren, Kylie Jefferies and Cohen Jefferies; and his friend Andrew McClennon (Samantha).
