He was predeceased by: his wife Wilma Jean Matthews; his parents, Johnnie Matthews and Mallie Pratt Matthews; and his brothers, Jack Matthews and Donnie Matthews.
He is survived by: his children, Michelle Trest (Steve), Merissa Williams (Michael) and Mitchel Matthews (Katrina); his grandchildren, Ashley Gillespie, Dylan Potmesil, Hayley Stevenson, Koty Potmesil, Madison Gregory, Faith Grisham, Kobbe Trest, Grace Schurr, Cheyenne Matthews and Hope Williams; and his sisters, Betty Matthews, Geraldine Jones and Patsy McCreight. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
