He was predeceased by: his parents, J. R. McWhirter and Ina Gilmer McWhirter; his daughter Shelly McWhirter; his grandson Russ McWhirter; and his siblings, Pete McWhirter, Max McWhirter (Farion), Joe McWhirter (Laura), Robbie Gregory (Fred) and Ann Roye (Wayne).
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his children, Dawn Cooper and Brock (Mellanie McWhirter); and his grandchildren, Madison Wilson (Gabe), Nick Cooper (C. C.), Britt Cooper (Alena Homan), Camden and Bailey Wilson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, August 5th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Friendship Baptist Church (85 Friendship Rd, Ecru, MS 38841). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
