He was predeceased by: his parents, L. C. Raines and Bertie Lee Raines; his wife Laney Bishop Raines; and his great grandchild Ava Kaye. He is survived by: his children, Fonda Raines Hellen (Lonn) of Brandon, MS, Michael Anthony Raines of Tupelo, MS and Robert James Raines, Jr. of Pontotoc, MS.; his grandchildren, Breanna Kaye Raines, Megan Raines, Robert James Raines, III, Courtney Raines, Breanna Raines and Renae Hellen Vallas (Jason); and his great grandchildren, Alina Kaye, Kolson, Jon Jason and Joshua Jason.
He always enjoyed working and staying busy and worked into his 80's until his Alzheimer's made it impossible to continue doing so.
