He was predeceased by: his parents, Sally Mae Cooperwood and Richard "Chick" Bates; his stepfather William "Duck" Cooperwood; and his sisters, Diane Cooperwood, Revonda Cooperwood and Louise Bates.
He is survived by: his sons, Cortney Harris of Charlotte, NC and Cedric Merritt of Nettleton, MS; his siblings, Shawn Cooperwood of Pontotoc, MS, Latanya Roberson of Pontotoc, MS, Bobby Ray Duke of New Albany, MS and Norman Cooperwood (Lynn) of Ecru, MS; and his friends, Cardell Gill, Terry Tutor and Robert Cummings. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
