He was predeceased by: his parents, Preston Cherry and Elizabeth Brown Cherry; and his siblings, Jettie Bee Coleman, Annie Jones, Francill Jones, Betty Fitzpatrick, T. W., Lonnie Preston, Flemmity and Jake.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Zinn Cherry; his daughters, Carol Iwhiwhu (Samson) of Horn Lake, MS and Lesiah Thompson (Derrick) of Olive Branch, MS; his siblings, Bonnette Holesome, James, Henry (Shirley) and Donnell (Katherine); and his grandchildren, Christian of Desoto County, Caitlyn of Desoto County, Jaedon of Desoto County, Caylee of Desoto County, Jacob of Desoto County and Omameri of Desoto County. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Payton Mortuary (262 E Oxford St, Pontotoc, MS 38863). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
