With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Velma Gean Berry (Pontotoc, Mississippi), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 28, 2025 at the age of 78. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lula Mae Bekham-Berry and Richard Berry; her siblings, Alvis Berry, Leroy Berry, Willie Richard "Guinea" Berry, Charlie Edward Berry and Ella Townsend; and her granddaughter Demetria Berry.
She is survived by: her daughter Sylvia Berry of Verona, MS; her grandchildren, Vanessa Satterwhite (Sam) of Tupelo, MS, Jarvis Rogers of Tupelo, MS and Ebony Stith of Georgia; her great grandchildren, Tay Johnson, Jaylen Carruthers, Elizabeth Satterwhite and Braylen Berry; her siblings, Lois Hurd of Pontotoc, MS, Kaye Berry of Pontotoc, MS, Gloria Berry of Pontotoc, MS, Walter Frank Berry (Valerie) of Birmingham, AL, Mack Berry (Lula) of Okolona, MS, Charles Berry (Evette) of Pontotoc, MS and Mitch Berry (Tawana) of Plantersville, MS.; and her close friend Roy Barnett.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Payton Mortuary (262 E Oxford St, Pontotoc, MS 38863). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church (1221 Campground Rd, Pontotoc, MS 38863).
