She was predeceased by: her father Dewey Noel Smith; and her brother J. C. Burns. She is survived by: her husband Kenneth Powell of Pope; her children, Tina Hardy of Batesville, Pam Newton (Leon) of Sumner, Gwen Montgomery of Pope and Allen Powell (Shannon) of Dyersburg, TN; and her siblings, Emma Dean Harrison of Pope, Nina Hendrix of Severn, MD and T. D. "Sonny" Smith of Tavares, FL. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grand children.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Powell's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or Disabled American Veterans.
