He was predeceased by: his wife Dollie Garris; his granddaughter Adeline Garris; his parents, Edward Garris and Sarah Garris; and his brother Howard Garris.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Garris of Richton, Joseph Dewayne Garris of Leakesville, David Joel "DJ" Garris of Richton and Donna Allen of Richmond, VA; and his brothers, Horace "Sambo" Garris (Ann) of Richton and Herman Garris (Shirley) of Laurel. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
