She was predeceased by: her former husband W. R. Thompson, Jr. (Bob); her parents, Glenn C. Rutledge and Wilmuth Saunders Rutledge; and her brother William Saunders Rutledge (Bill). She is survived by: her husband Bobby Thompson; her children, Dr. Barbara T. Alexander (Mike Segura) of Brandon, MS and Glenn R. Thompson (Ellen) of Enterprise, FL.; her grandchildren, DeBow A. Padgett (Brian) of Ridgeland, MS, Alexander Thompson of DeKalb, IL, Douglas Alexander (Erik) of New Orleans, LA and Lisa Stulgate of Oswego, IL; her great grandchildren, Elizabeth Padgett of Ridgeland, MS, Alli Mae Alexander, Ella Alexander and Shane Alexander of New Orleans; and her nieces and nephews, Jan and Ed Rutledge.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church (200 W Lampkin St, Starkville, MS 39759). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
Memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the First United Methodist Church in Starkville, MS.
