He was predeceased by : his parents, Josephine Ashley and Ailous Ashley; and his siblings, John Thomas Ashley, Mary Ashley Owens, Sadie Ashley Linn, Milma Ashley Wiselogel, Thelma Ashley Furlow, Ruth Ashley Blackledge, Faye Ashley Straw and Ann Ashley Bone.

He is survived by : his wife Harriet Smith Ashley; his children, David William Ashley (Cherry), Darlene Ashley Prince and Donna Ashley Josey (Jimmy Jon); his grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Ashley, Joshua David Ashley (Nicole), Jonathan Lloyd Josey (Wesley), Rebecca Josey Muse (Hugh) and Tristan William Prince; and his great grandchildren, Caleb Ashley, Callan Ashley, Seth Josey, Haddon Josey, Finley Josey and Allie May Muse.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Colonial Heights Baptist Church (444 Northpark Dr, Ridgeland, MS 39157). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
