With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Anita Jean Spencer Whaley of Saltillo, Mississippi, who passed away on February 26, 2026 at the age of 68. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Elton Ray Spencer; her husband Richard Whaley; her brother Chester Spencer; her nephew Jack Richard Greenhill; and her granddaughter Destiny Tucker.
She is survived by: her mother Catherine Prentiss Lewis; her children, Ramona Kinney (Chris) of Iuka, Derek Smith of Tupelo and Doug Whaley (Julie) of Athens, Alabama; her grandchildren, Devin Tucker, Emma Kate Smith, Ava Rae Smith, Ella Grace Kinney, Griffin Kinney, Nolan Whaley and Savanna Whaley; and her siblings, Wesley Spencer of Booneville, Jimmy Spencer (Charlotte) of Booneville, Carolyn Greenhill (Jack Benny) of Baldwyn and Jacky Spencer of Mantachie. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anita's honor to the Sandy Springs Cemetery Fund, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to a charity of your choice.
