He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Lyman Speed and Betty Leggett Speed; his brothers, Larry Speed and Ted Speed; and his son-in-law Dwayne Desoto.

He is survived by : his wife Vivian Breland Speed of Seminary; his children, Stan Speed (Kim) of Okeechobee, Florida and Kimberly Speed Desoto of Hattiesburg; and his grandson Quinton Speed (Kelsi) of Okeechobee, Florida. He is also survived by nieces nephews, and other family members.
