He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Thornton and Buelah Thornton; his wife Bernice McDonald Thornton; his sister Janie Mae Hill; and his children, Angela Kathryn Luttrell and Jimmy Ray Thornton.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Wes Luttrell (Kristina) of Hernando, MS, Shannon Morman (Bradley) of Quitman, AR and Cory Thornton (Crystal); and his brother Carl R. Thornton, Jr. of Eads, TN.. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
