He was predeceased by: his parents, Junius "Doc" Pleasants and Marjorie Hicks Denton; his sons, Kenneth Earl Pleasants, Jr. and Brett Allen Pleasants; and his brother James Lawrence Pleasants.

He is survived by: his wife Edna L. Pleasants; his daughter Sharon Gayle Raymer (Greg); his grandchildren, Kenneth Bryan Pleasants, Travis Paul Arnold (Theresa), Nicholas Ryan Thomas and Haley Laurel Thomas Evans (Dalton); and his great grandchildren, Paige Pleasants, Elliott Pleasants, Jaxson Pleasants and Greyson Arnold.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude or the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor.
