He was predeceased by: his parents, Wiley Thomas Hays and Mae Oswalt Hays. He is survived by: his wife Betty Ray Hays of Starkville, MS; his children, Mitzi Alpe (Mike) of Starkville, MS and Mickey Hays (Renee) of Starkville, MS; his sister Sylvia Jackson of Sturgis, MS; and his grandchildren, Cameron Hays (Breanna) of Maben, MS, Kenley Talbot (Matthew) of Maben, MS, Logan Curtis (Channing) of Flowood, MS and Lillee Alpe of Starkville, MS. He is also survived by six great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Welch Funeral Home (201 W Lampkin St, Starkville, MS 39759). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
