In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Mary leaves behind and her impact on the lives of her loved ones. Though Mary may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
She is survived by: her daughters, Virginia Johnson (Emmitt) and Mattie "Tina" Harrell; her grandchildren, Dr. Monica Scott (Ian), Brittany West (Alex) and Melvin Calmes, Jr.; her sister Amanda Sykes; her brother-in-law Herman Fountain Sr.; and her nieces, Dr. Bobbie Jones (Terron) and Bobbye Francis Young. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the West Memorial Funeral Home (103 Jefferson St, Starkville, MS 39759). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Lindsey Chapel U. M. Church.
