He is survived by: his wife Edna Smith; his children, Eugene Clark, Patricia Clark-Brown, Monica Charles of Detroit, MI and Merrill Smith Jr. (Erica) of Memphis, TN; his stepsons, Omar Jones (Angelia) of Tupelo, MS and Desmond Jones of Starkville, MS; his siblings, Wanda Webb and Jame Smith of Detroit, MI; his siblings-in-law, Daisy McKinely (Sylvester) of St. Louis, MO, Beulha Tate (Udies), Evelyn Evans (John), Linda Johnson (Wayne), Annie Jones of Starkville, MS, Willie C (Katherine), Robert Jones (Rose) of St. Louis, MO, Henry Jones (Mary), James Henry Jones of Starkville, MS and Michael Jones (Kanesha) of Houston, MS; and his nephews, Jericho Jones and Kim Smith. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
