He was predeceased by: his parents, Aubrey Alvin "Buck" and Barbara Jean Suber Nail; his son Mark Steven Nail; his brothers, Richard Alvin "Ricky" Nail and Mark Steven Nail; and his stepson Benjamin Lee "Benjie" Shearer.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Burton Nail of Stewart; his sister Gina Nail Vaughn (Frank) of Winona; his stepsons, Brian Shearer (Jennifer) of Stewart and Jesse Shearer of Stewart; his adoptive children, Haley Myers of French Camp and Kelcey Nail of French Camp; his daughter-in-law Kristy Nail of French Camp; his grandchildren, Conner Nail (Abby) of French Camp, Caleb Nail of French Camp, Kirk Shearer (Christian) of Stewart, Barrett Shearer (Morgan) of Stewart, Logan Shearer of Stewart, Raelyn Shearer of Stewart and Ben Shearer of Minot, ND; and his great grandchildren, Cole Nail, Anne Layton Nail and Ryan Shearer. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
