It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Smith Murphey IV of Sumner, Mississippi, who passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Eva Bledsoe Murphey and Smith Murphey; and his brother Joseph Bledsoe Murphey. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Lillian Shields; his children, Smith Murphey V (Carole) and Margaret Murphey Slattery (Bob); his grandchildren, Addison, Bobby, Devin and Brooke; his sister-in-law Becky Murphey; and his nieces, Missy and Beth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Sumner Presbyterian Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
