He was predeceased by: his parents, William Skidmore Pickens, Sr. and Cynthia Ann Whiteside Pickens; his wife Marie Chapman; and his siblings, Ernest Paul Pickens and Barbara Ann Cason.

He is survived by: his children, William Skidmore Pickens, III of Tupelo, Richard Bryant, II (Miki) of Starkville, Candy Pickens Scales (Ronald) of Shannon, Anthony Bryant (Alisha) of Mooreville and Katherine Marie Pickens of Mooreville; his grandchildren, Hunter Smith, Chapman Bryant, Lee Bryant, Alex Smith, Kaylee Pickens, Chandler Bryant, Ann Marie McMillan, Anna Brooke Bryant, Kenzie Scales and Keyon Vinson; his great grandchild Kegan R. Vinson; and his close friend Anne Herrington.
