He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlie Johnston and Exie Davis Johnston; his wife Marion Johnston; and his siblings, Mary Ellen Kellum and Jimmy Johnston.

He is survived by: his daughters, Teresa Rakestraw of Plantersville, Susan Nichols of Tupelo and Tina Johnson of Mantachie; his grandchildren, Reid Rakestraw, Riley Rakestraw, Marion Steele (Josh), Emma Nichols and Julia Johnson; his brothers, Ronald Johnston (Sharon) and Charles Johnston (Linda); and his sister-in-law Carolyn Johnston.
