Harvey Vaughn Jr. wrote a sympathy message

“I knew Jackie as Ben's little brother. Always knew him as a straight shooter. One of the good guys. I remember him being the QB at CBHS and going on to Tennessee. I talked to him on occasion while he was a Stephens and I was with APS here in Austin. I would always call Jackie to get the scoop own anyone from AR we were interviewing. I know he will be missed by his family and friends, I fear the don't make like him anymore. We were lucky”

Ben Cotton wrote a sympathy message

“From my earliest memories as a kid I can fondly remember my ‘Uncle Jackie!’ taking me and my 3 young brothers to Overton Park where he would punt BOOMING, SPIRALNG footballls into the stratosphere - repeatedly and in high frequency - from a barrel of footballs he kept at his side. My brothers and I SQUEELED with delight for HOURS and HOURS. Later, when I was in 2nd grade, I PROUDLY came to learn that *my* UNCLE JACKIE was an all-SEC punter, defensive back, and draftee of the DALLAS COWBOYS! Wow, right? Aunt Ellen, cousins MaryClaire and Jack Jr. know this : the patriarch of your family *is* a hero of mine. Buddy Cotton”
