It is with sadness that the passing of James Harris of Tupelo, Mississippi is shared. James, born on March 8, 1943, passed away on September 20, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
James will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honor James by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though James is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. James’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James V. Harris, Sr. and Modena Burleson Harris; and his brother-in-law Charles Talley. He is survived by: his daughter Abby Barnes (Donovan Barnes); his grandson Mac Lishman; and his sisters, Barbara Talley and Martha Barta (Gary). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pegues Funeral Directors (535 W Jefferson St, Tupelo, MS 38804). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Lee Memorial Park (5257 Raymond Ave, Tupelo, MS 38801).
