He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Lloyd and Geneva Athalee Ricks; and his siblings, Lloyd, Bob Ricks, Ann Harlow, Dean Cooper, Nyoka Burns, Martha Mahler and Linda Mahler.

He is survived by: his wife Hellen Ricks of Wheeler; his sons, John Alan Ricks of Wheeler, Charles Evan Ricks (Stacy) of Booneville and Kenneth Everett Ricks of Booneville; and his grandchildren, Garrett Alan Ricks, Cade Riley Ricks (Autumn), Haley Anne Ricks and Madeline Harper Ricks. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Sanctuary Hospice House in remembrance of John.
