He was predeceased by: his mother Bessie Penson; his siblings, Melvin Penson and Dianne Penson Terrell; his grandson Malik Penson; his brother-in-law James Garner; and his niece Demetric Leshaun Holder.
He is survived by: his father Ilander Penson of Tupelo, Mississippi; his wife Cruffulean "Criffie" Penson of Belden, Mississippi; his children, Nivia Talley (Reggie) of Tupelo, Sheena Penson of Nettleton, Michael Deangelo "Dede" Penson of Memphis, Tennessee, Jeremic Brown (Eunisha) of Tupelo and Shay Brown of Saltillo, Mississippi; his stepchildren, Will Hadley (Debbie) of Belden, Mississippi, Sonya Hadley of Belden, Mississippi, Lukenya Hadley of Belden, Mississippi, Catisse Hadley of Belden, Mississippi and Tyson Hadley of Belden, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Tra Ligon of Tupelo, Trinity and Shaniyah Penson of Nettleton, Mississippi; his sisters, Lucille Garner and Patricia Shells (James); his mother-in-law Catherine "Momma Cat" Hadley; and his sisters-in-law, Gloria Penson and Cathy Shumpert (Leonard). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM at the Bishop Hl Coleman GPD Convention Center (3590 Willie Moore Rd, Tupelo, MS 38801). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
