She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilbur Japs and Henrietta Japs; her former husband James Richard "Buddy" Cates; and her husband James E. Mattox. She is survived by: her son Robert Cates (Amy) of Tupelo; her grandchildren, Josh Cates of Tupelo, Anna Beth Cates of Tupelo and Matt Cates of Tupelo; her great grandchild Addy Grace Cates; and her stepsons, Steve Mattox (Mary Catherine) of Mount Pleasant and David Mattox of Tupelo. She is also survived by many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
