He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ellis and Ruth McCollum Ellis; his daughter Dorisha Ellis; and his brother Robert Ellis. He is survived by: his siblings, Judy Peters (Jake) and Charles Ellis, Jr. (Lynn) of Tupelo; and his pet Ziggy. He is also survived by his four children.
