He was predeceased by: his parents, Hannon Sayes and Ida M. Gorham Sayes; his wife Bobbie Sue Smith Sayes; his son Keith Sayes; and his siblings, Willie Sayes, Byron Sayes, Winston Sayes, Davis Sayes and Edith Sayes.

He is survived by: his sons, Neil Sayes, Sr. (Cheryl) and Joel Sayes (Stacy); his grandchildren, Ben Sayes (Sarah), Neil Sayes, Jr. (Leigh Ann), Amanda Sayes, Alan Sayes, Ryan Sayes (Rebekah), Trevor Durazo and Xochi Durazo; his great grandchildren, Sawyer Sayes, Eleanor Sayes, Noah Felps and Alyjah Felps; and his brother Malcolm Sayes (Avie). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends.
