He was predeceased by: his parents, Enos Mitchell and Grace Birch Mitchell; his wife Geneva Mitchell; his children, Tommy Mitchell, Toney Mitchell and Tracy Mitchell; and his siblings, Jerry Mitchell, James Mitchell, Doris Duncan and Louise Mitchell.

He is survived by: his children, Tammy Rials (Vince) and Terry Mitchell (Sonya); his brothers-in-law, Otis Morris (Karen), Larry Morris (Dolly) and Eugene Morris (Karen); his sister Annette Lee; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Polk and Ann Thornhill (Ronnie). He is also survived by 29 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.
