He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady C. Hollowell of Vicksburg and Lucille B. Hollowell of Vicksburg; his wife Catherine; and his daughter Melissa Hollowell Nevels. He is survived by: his brothers, Don Hollowell (Frances) of Vicksburg, Lonnie Hollowell (Martha) of Vicksburg and Ronnie Hollowell (Cecile); his sons, Cecil Hollowell (Susan), Thomas Hollowell (Janie), Russell Hollowell (Rita) and David Hollowell; and his stepdaughter Christy Abernathy of Vicksburg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
