He was predeceased by: his mother Janie "Leach" Garren; and his brother Seawall J. Garren III. He is survived by: his children, Missy Chrestman (John) of Cleveland, LaurieAnne Lee (Ryan) of Madison, Stephen Matthew Garren (Whittney) of Brandon and Jane Claire Abel (Jacob) of Oxford; his grandchildren, Hayden Abel, Conner Abel of Oxford, Caroline Lee of Madison and Palmer James Garren of Brandon; his sisters, Diane Skelton of Oxford and Judy Smith of Brandon; and his friend Terri Barrett Garren.
