He was predeceased by: his parents, George Carter, Sr. and Zettie Kirkland Carter; his sons, Wayne Paul Harris and Calvin Harris, Jr.; and his siblings, Flosie Thompson, Burl Harris, Mary Adzic and Texine Andrews.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Elizabeth Harris; his children, Griffen Earl Harris, Sr., George Wesley Harris, Thomas Steven Harris, Sr. (Cheryl) and Linda White; his stepchildren, Shirley Jones, Curtis Lassiter, Nancy Lassiter, Vickie Hopkins (David) and Loree Lovell (Eddie); and his siblings, George Carter, Jr., Alberta Henderson and Griffen Carter (Brenda). He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Freeman Funeral Home (1305 Skyland Dr, Waynesboro, MS 39367). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Freeman Funeral Home Chapel (1305 Skyland Dr, Waynesboro, MS 39367). A burial was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at the White House Cemetery (11 Davis Singleterry Rd, Waynesboro, MS 39367).
